Depending on the program, you may be able to combine your placement with a rural and urban setting. Home stays Participants live with a local host family who has been carefully screened and briefed. Most family members will speak good English. Your family will provide you with all meals, a private room, laundry service (usually), and inclusion in regular family activities. It's a unique opportunity to gain real insights into Indian culture, practice one of local languages like Hindi, make some lifelong friendships. Orphanage volunteers can often stay at the orphanage itself in a private room. As with the host family stay, all meals are included in the program fees.
